The Perfect Everyday Tote
This tote is such a great size! It easily holds all of the everyday necessities, with plenty of extra room for those unexpected things you somehow end up carrying along to events.
One of our favorite features is the pocket placement. The exterior zipper pocket keeps smaller items secure, while the exterior snap pocket makes frequently used items easy to grab. Inside, there’s tons of space plus another pocket for keeping smaller essentials from getting lost at the bottom of the bag.
The pattern directions were spot-on and easy to follow. There are quite a few pieces, though, so our biggest tip is to stay organized as you cut and sew. Do that, and the bag comes together beautifully!
We used leather handles, which give the tote a sturdy, substantial feel. We wouldn’t hesitate to load this one up with heavier items.
This was also our first time installing magnetic snaps—and we LOVE them! They were easier to use than we expected and really elevated the finished bag, giving it a polished, store-bought look.
Our verdict: We definitely recommend this project for a confident sewist. It’s probably not the best choice for a true beginner, but if you’re comfortable following a multi-step pattern and ready to try a few new techniques, this is a fun and rewarding project.
